Life's challenges

The Challenges we face in life may make us feel brittle, but the vine of our soul is grounded within the earth.

Life's Challenges the on-line magazine offers Hope, Encouragement and Support to those who are dealing or have dealt with the many challenges of life. Life's Challenges was created by Christine Dernederlanden, who is all to familiar with the challenges that life can through at you. Christine has joined together with others who are able to express and share there stories in order to help eachother through Life's Challenges.

Life's Challenges derives from Robert's Press, Canada Grief Resource Centre The goal of Robert's Press is Helping People Through Life's Challenges. The logo for Life's Challenges was created with much thought. The tree represents the challenges we face in life, the vine that intertwine up the tree is rooted within the earth. The vine and leaves are the courage and strength that enables us to continue to grow and enjoy the positive challenges we face in life. The circle that encompasses the tree is life. Life's Challenges on-line magazine is published quarterly.

Robert's Press was founded in 2000 by Christine Dernederlanden, C.T.S.S., C.T.R. the award winning author of "Where is Robert?" the grief kit that aided over 6000 families affected by 9/11/01 and H.U.G.S. Helping Children Understand Grief Sessions. Christine has been finalist for Woman of The Year and Entrepreneur of The Year and has been honoured with the Leadership and Communication Award from Toastmasters Public Speaking Organization.

As the president of Robert’s Press Canada's Grief Resource Centre, Christine continues to put her talents to work dealing with sensitive subjects for teaching, television and radio. Christine has written for The St.Catharines Standard, The Grief Digest, Woman’s World, and many publications throughout Canada and the United States. Writing is her passion and for the article "Putting all my problems in perspective" Christine was awarded the 2001 Standard Literary Prize.

Christine works in various camps for the bereaved. These camps are a time for healing and friendship for bereaved children, parents and family members. From the camps derived her latest title H.U.G.S. Helping Children Understand Grief Sessions. She continuously is involved with the families from 9/11 and has received letters from NASA and other organizations concerned with tragic events. Christine is the recipient of a Certificate of Appreciation from former U.S. Secretary of Defense, Donald H. Rumsfeld. Christine Dernederlanden is a Certified Trauma Service Special and a Certified Trauma Responder.

Christine Dernederlanden shares her expertise and experiences in the field of bereavement throughout North America. Topics include:

  • H.U.G.S. Helping children and teenagers understand grief support group development.
  • Suicide from a child's perspective.
  • Grief and play, art and music therapy.
  • Christine offers support, education and encouragement.
  • She offers customized workshops or presentations to focus on the organizations present needs.
  • Christine believes in play therapy and hands-on interaction with her audience. She uses various objects to explain grief and its many forms.
  • Christine has inspired volunteers, professionals and the bereaved to continue to help each other.
